Steve's 1967 Series 1 Iso Grifo
Hi, below is the testimonial I promised re my Grifo.
In 2001 my father and I carried out the restoration of our 1967 Series 1 Iso Grifo. Our goal was simple in its approach, do it once and do it right. The Grifo had sat rusting for over 25 years so rust protection was paramount in our minds. We researched the available products and settled on the exclusive use of POR15 products for all areas except the color on the body. This included the engine bay, suspension components, fuel tank, all underneath areas such as floor, inner guards etc.
Now 16 years and over 70,000km later I can see the benefit of our decision to only use POR15. I recently put the Grifo up on a hoist to inspect and clean the underbody and was amazed at what I found. The POR15 paint has not cracked, chipped, bubbled or deteriorated at all. I have attached photos of the inner guards, that have only had a wash with detergent, showing their condition. You can see that there aren't even stone chips inside the guards and their is NO rust.
I would highly recommend the POR15 system as I have experienced the benefit of it. It may not be the cheapest product out there but quality and durability is of so much more importance when you are completing a full restoration. I only wanted to restore my Iso Grifo once in my lifetime and because I used POR15 that goal has been achieved.
